General Requirements to be a Foster Parent

• Willingness to work in partnership with the LVFT and others
   in planning for the child

• Minimum age of 21

• Pass a medical examination that states you are physically
  able to care for children and are free from communicable
  disease

• Pass screening requirements related to child abuse and
  criminal history

• The ability to provide care, nurturing and supervision for
   the child

• A demonstrated stable and emotionally healthy environment

• Ties with family, friends and community

• The ability to meet state regulations for foster parents

• Completion of ongoing training
 
• A home that meets safety requirements

• Adequate income to support your own family
